A NEW SOURCE OF FUNDS FOR CLIENTS
LIFE SETTLEMENTS
Estate planning lawyers, financial planners, and accountants, can introduce this idea to their clients who are over age 65, or in bad health.
If a client owns $100,000 or more of term life insurance or cash value life insurance, and the client is considering canceling a life insurance policy (because it is no longer needed, or the premiums are too costly), ask the client to check the "actuarial value" of the life insurance policy before lapsing or cashing out the life insurance policy.
If a client's life expectancy is less than 15 years, Wall Street investors might buy the client's life insurance policy for an amount which might exceed ten percent of the face amount of insurance on term policies, and might exceed ten percent of the net amount of insurance (face amount, less cash value and policy loans) on cash value policies.
Recent Case Examples:
- A man age 68 received a Life Settlement of $120,000 on a $750,000 term policy.
- A man age 69 received a Life Settlement of $400,000 on a $3,000,000 term policy.
- A man age 67 received a Life Settlement of $52,500 on a $500,000 universal life policy with $36,000 of cash value, increasing his return by $16,500.
- A man age 65 received a Life Settlement of $525,000 on a $4,000,000 universal life policy with $90,000 of cash value, increasing his return by $435,000.
- A man age 82 received a Life Settlement of $1,200,000 on a $10,000,000 universal life policy with no cash value, increasing his return by $1,200,000.
If a client would like to check on the actuarial value of a life insurance policy, we will assist in completing an application and authorizations, submit the application to selected funding organizations, negotiate the highest offer from such organizations, and relay this offer to the policy owner or a representative for acceptance.
